What do I need to start weld cleaning?

A complete setup usually includes a weld cleaning machine, the correct brush or wand, cleaning fluid, brush sleeves or shrouds, a work lead and the right holder for the machine. Starter sets are the easiest route if you are buying your first Cougartron system.

Which Cougartron weld cleaner should I choose?

Start with the weld type, material thickness and how often you clean. For lighter TIG work, look at the Power and Precision machines. For regular stainless fabrication and heavier oxide, look at ProPlus or the FURY range.

Which brush fits my Cougartron machine?

Brush compatibility depends on the machine, holder and job. Power, ProPlus and FURY machines use different holder and brush combinations, so check the product page or ask us before ordering if you are unsure.

What fluid do I need for weld cleaning?

Use the fluid that matches the process: weld cleaning, polishing, marking or neutralising. The right fluid affects cleaning speed, finish and handling, so do not treat all fluids as interchangeable.

Do I need fluid feed?

Not always. Manual fluid application works well for smaller jobs and occasional cleaning. Fluid feed helps when you clean longer seams, work for longer periods or want fewer stops during production.

Can Cougartron machines clean both TIG and MIG welds?

Yes, but MIG welds and heavier oxide usually need more power. If MIG cleaning is part of your normal work, start by looking at ProPlus or the FURY range.

Is weld cleaning the same as passivation?

Weld cleaning removes heat tint, oxide and discolouration from stainless welds. When used correctly with the right Cougartron fluid and process, electrochemical weld cleaning also helps restore the stainless surface after welding.
