A complete guide to Cougartron brush sets and accessories

Choosing the right weld cleaning brush set for your production can be a challenging task.

The number of possible solutions is significant and continues to grow. In order to help you choose, we decided to give you an overview of available variations and combinations you can use for various production situations.

Below you will find a detailed description of each brush set and accessory and learn how to combine and use different items (such as brushes and accessories) together in our range.This includes sets for one to four brushes – as well as special parts used with our FURY line of weld cleaning machines. With each set, you will be able to view an assembly video that is showcasing the correct setup . 

 

Single Brush Sets & Accessories

A single Cougartron brush is best used for simple cleaning tasks on smaller and thinner TIG welds. Depending on the type of brush, the recommended power settings will vary from 5 to 80amps.
Cougartron offers two single brush sets:

1. Cougartron Wand & Twist Shroud Set: (Powerbrush, Superbrush, Pipebrush)
2. Cougartron FURY Wand and Twist Shroud Set:  (FURY 200A brush)

The difference between these two sets is the type of brush that can be combined with the set. The FURY Wand & Shroud Set is only compatible with the Cougartron FURY 200A brush, whereas the regular Wand & Twist Shroud Set is compatible with other essential Cougartron brushes, such as Powerbrush and Superbrush.

Cougartron Wand & Twist Shroud Set

This brush set consists of Cougartron Twist Shroud and Cougartron Wand. The advantage of the unique twisting shroud is that this shroud allows you to fully control the length of the brush during the cleaning, while the rest of the brush is covered and protected with the shroud. This can significantly extend the life of your weld cleaning brush. The twisting shroud supersedes the original sliding shroud version which delivered less control and durability.

Cougartron FURY Wand & Twist Shroud Set 

The FURY wand and twist shroud set consist of Cougartron FURY Wand and FURY Twist Shroud. Cleaning with Cougartron FURY is mostly used for cleaning thicker and larger oxidized welds, however, there are situations where smaller welds need to be cleaned as well, and using one brush in lower power settings would be a better option than using the three brushes simultaneously (Triple brush set is most used set used with FURY weld cleaners). For this reason, the FURY Single brush set was developed. The FURY Wand has 8mm (0.3inch)  thread that only fits the Cougartron FURY 200A brush.

Cougartron FURY M8 to M6 Adapter

M6 adaptor (with 6mm/ 0.23inch thread) allows connecting all Cougartron weld cleaning brushes to the Cougartron FURY Wand that is made originally only for the FURY 200A  brush (with 8mm /0.3inch thread).

Cougartron Angle Adapters – 90°, 45°, and 135°

Angle adaptors are mounted on the brush wand and are used to position your brush at a certain angle so you can successfully clean welds within tight corners, angled steel sections, and other hard-to-reach areas.

Compatible brushes: Cougartron Powerbrush, Superbrush, Pipebrush
Compatible accessories: Single short brush shroud – fixed, Single long brush shroud – fixed
Tip: Short brush shroud is best used with an older shorter brush, if you have a brand new brush, use the long brush shroud so the most of the brush is covered during the weld cleaning.

NEW! – Cougartron Flexible Brush Wand 

The new Flexible Wand attaches to the Cougartron handle cable and is used to clean hard-to-reach areas on your metal parts after welding. It can be rotated at an angle of up to 180° in both directions and firmly fixed in the desired position for a smooth and easy process. It has a similar function as our single angle brush adapters, but the advantage is, that you can adjust to any direction and you only have one item to work with.

The wand is used without a shroud, therefore it is recommended that you always use it together with a shorter (used or cut) brush to prevent the brush threads from bending too much during the cleaning, which would worsen the overall performance.

Double Brush Sets & Accessories

Using two brushes at the same time is useful when cleaning larger areas and welds. This gives you the ability to use higher power settings, finish the job faster and save more time. Brushes are mounted on the brush wand using the double brush adaptor and are controlled with a twisting shroud.

Cougartron offers two double brush variations: 

1. Cougartron Dual Brush Set: for Cougartron Powerbrush & Cougartron Superbrush
2. Cougartron FURY Double Brush Set: for FURY 200A Brush

Both sets consist of a wand with a double brush adapter and a double brush twisting shroud. The difference is, that the Wand in the FURY Set is welded together with the adapter, whereas the Dual brush set´s adapter is a separate item that screws onto a wand.

Cougartron Dual Brush Set 

The Dual Brush Set consists of Cougartron FURY Wand, M6 Double brush adapter and Double brush twisting shroud. The double brush adaptor accepts two brushes to form a brush twice the size for greater surface coverage. Using the double-twisting shroud gives you the same cleaning control and brush protection as with the original single twist shroud.

Cougartron FURY Double Brush Set

This set consits of FURY Wand with double brush adapter – as a single item and a Double brush twisting shroud.  It is made to hold two FURY 200A brushes so you can clean and polish welds faster and cover a larger surface area. The set is also included in the FURY 100 Starter Set – as it is the ideal brush set for this weld cleaner. But it can also be used with FURY 200 model.

Cougartron M6 Double Brush Adapter

Cougartron double brush adaptor holds two brushes at the same time so you can clean larger surfaces and welds faster. Using two brushes will also optimize the cleaning performance with stronger weld cleaners like Cougartron ProPlus or Cougartron FURY models. The adaptor is only compatible with Cougartron FURY Wand. Triple Brush Set

Using three brushes is effective for long and heavily-corroded welds. The combination of three brushes was developed specifically for use with the FURY 200 weld cleaner, which is the most powerful weld cleaner on the market. The use of three brushes can be utilized with the highest power settings – up to 200Amps.

Cougartron Triple Brush Set

The set consists of Cougartron Wand with triple brush adapter and triple brush twisting shroud. This set was developed to be used with the FURY 200 weld cleaner (it is also included in the starter set) for heavy-duty tasks on heavily corroded welds. The FURY brushes are screwed into the triple brush adaptor while their length is precisely controlled with the help of the triple brush twist shroud.

Four Brush Sets & Accessories

In special situations, it is possible to use 4 brushes at the same time so you can cover more of the steel surface. The brushes are controlled using the quad-twisting shroud. The best use for the four brush sets is namely for surface cleaning on large stainless steel structures, rather than weld cleaning due to flat and lengthy arrangement of the brushes. It is recommended to use these sets with our high-powered machines ProPlus, FURY100, and FURY 200.

The Sets for four brushes come in these variants:

1. Cougartron Four Brush Set: for Cougartron Superbrush
2. Cougartron FURY Quad Brush Set: for FURY 200A brush

Both sets include a FURY wand with a four brush adapter (M6 thread for Superbrush and M8 thread for FURY 200A brush) and Quad brush twisting shroud that protects the brushes and moves up and down depending on the actual length of the brushes.

Cougartron Four Brush Set

The set consists of Cougartron FURY Wand, M6 quad brush adapter and Quad brush twisting shroud. This assembly can be used for surface cleaning on large stainless-steel structures to remove surface rust and other contaminants.

Cougartron FURY Quad Brush Set

The set consists of FURY Wand with M8 four brush adapter (as one piece) and quad brush twisting shroud. The advantage of the quad brush assembly is that you can cover a larger surface area and clean significantly faster. The specially designed twisting shroud to fit this assembly is heat resistant, protects the brush crimps, and stays in the desired position during the weld cleaning or polishing process.
