Buying help

Weld cleaner questions

Which Cougartron weld cleaner should I choose?

Start with the work you do most often. For lighter TIG work, look at Power30 or Power30X. For regular fab shop cleaning, look at PowerONE or ProPlus. For heavier daily work, long seams or demanding MIG welds, start with the FURY range.

What is the difference between Power, ProPlus and FURY?

PowerONE is the entry-level route into proper weld cleaning. Power30 and Power30X are precision-range machines for lighter stainless work. ProPlus adds more bite for regular shop use. FURY machines are the heavy-duty range for demanding welds, darker oxide and daily stainless fabrication.

Do I need an XF model?

Choose XF if you want integrated fluid feed. It helps when operators are cleaning for longer periods, working on longer seams, or trying to reduce stopping, dipping and refilling during the job.

Can one machine clean both TIG and MIG welds?

Yes, but MIG welds and heavier oxide usually need more power. If MIG is a regular part of your work, look at ProPlus or the FURY range.

What else do I need with the machine?

Most users need the right cleaning fluid, brushes, brush sleeves or shrouds, a work lead and the correct holder. Starter sets are usually the easiest way to get the right basic setup.

Need the right machine?

Send us the weld before you choose

The best weld cleaner depends on weld type, oxide level, material thickness and how often you clean. Send us a photo of the weld and tell us whether it is TIG, MIG or double-pass TIG. We can point you towards the right Cougartron machine and setup.
